Are you frightened by thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes or earthquakes? Or perhaps, does the process of aging and eventually dying scare you?

Storms are caused by natural processes like heat and cold creating turbulence when they collide. Jesus provides peace in the midst of storms, as He did physically on the Sea of Galilee (Luke 8:22-25) or mentally and spiritually when we are ridiculed and persecuted (John 16:33).

The only alternative to growing older is dying young. We all came into the world the same way (birth) and we are all going out the same way (death). Death is as natural as birth. During all the events of life, does the promise of God to “never, ever, no never leave you or forsake you” (the meaning of the Greek text of Hebrews 13:5-6) provide comfort for you? How does the fact that Jesus was resurrected from the dead give us assurance and comfort when we face our death or the death of our loved ones? The apostle Paul wrote at length about how the resurrection of Jesus is God’s guarantee that believers will likewise be resurrected to be with the Lord forever (I Corinthians chapter 15; I Thessalonians 4:13-18). What does the promise of Jesus to “go and prepare a place for us” mean to you? (John 14:1-6).
