Walk with the Doc – Chapter 6
Could you walk 20-25 miles in a single day? Sounds like a monumental undertaking, yet that is what is referred to as a ‘day’s journey’ in Biblical times. Out of necessity, people of that period had considerable endurance when it came to walking. It was their primary means of travel. An excellent example of that endurance is found in Isaiah 40:31, “…they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” We, too, are capable of building our endurance by establishing a walking program. Start by walking 30-40 minutes daily if possible. Over time extend the distance travelled in the same time period. That’s all there is to it. A well-known Chinese proverb says: The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. If you’re not already a walker, start today!
