Walk with the Doc – Chapter 14
Would you want to bathe in your old bath water? I am certain that your response would be a resounding “No!” But, why not? The short answer is because it’s nasty. And yet, that is essentially what is happening if you are sedentary and not well-hydrated. God has provided a means for the body to rid itself of waste and toxins. The body does this in part by the lymphatic system. The cells (which are the units of function in the body) produce waste, which is carried away by the tissue fluid that bathes the cells. The fluid is transported by the lymphatic ducts and enters into the circulatory system where it is carried to the kidneys and liver to be detoxified and then excreted. Walking enhances lymphatic flow, and drinking lots of water leads to increased dilution, which is the solution to pollution. Remember, water and walks to detox!
