The “Blame” Game
Is our suffering always a consequence of our sins? Should we automatically blame ourselves for our suffering? Why or why not?
Hebrews 5:8
8 Although [Jesus] was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered.
1 Peter 2:22
22 [Jesus] committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.
In Psalm 17:3-5, what is David’s advice to those who are in the midst of trials and struggles?
Psalm 17:3-5
3 You have tried my heart, you have visited me by night, you have tested me, and you will find nothing; I have purposed that my mouth will not transgress. 4 With regard to the works of man, by the word of your lips I have avoided the ways of the violent. 5 My steps have held fast to your paths; my feet have not slipped.
David purposed in his heart that he was not going to question God, say anything bad about God, but avoid violence and walk righteously.
