Lesson 9, Digging Deeper 1
In Progress

Stay Holy by Collin Little

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.” – 1 Peter 2:9-12

To be holy means to be different.

  • Different – to be alive and sensitive in one’s spirit.
  • Different – to show emotion.
  • Different – to listen to what is going on in God’s house, really to hear, to respond.
  • Different – to take Jesus Christ seriously The Biblical word “Holy” is the contemporary word “Different.”

We are called to be holy but called may be to passive, We have been commanded to live a holy life.

1. The problem with being holy

  • We value conformity
  • We visualize a caricature of holiness
  • We misunderstand what it means to be holy

2. The meaning of being different

  • It means that we think differently
  • It means that we live differently
  • It means that we love differently
  • It means that we talk differently

Today the world has a desperate need for people to stand up and stand out, to be holy for Christ and to be different.

Today let’s do this:

  • Try to not hear anymore but to listen
  • Try to not see your own but Gods vision
  • Try to be less and who you are more about Christ is in you
  • Don’t waste today, it is given to you and you cannot relive it.

Make the most out of today!

He calls us to different. He calls us to be holy.
