Wow! The year 2020 was a roller coaster of a year! Now 2021 is here and you might be wondering what has changed? One thing is for certain, God has not changed. He is here to help you through the trials of this life. Now is a great time to start developing a deeper relationship with God and to teach your friends and family about Jesus.
Here are some great New Year’s resolutions that will steer your life toward God and give you the strength to weather whatever storms come in 2021.
1. Read My Bible Daily
There is no better way to grow closer to God than to be in his word, the Bible. Resolve to read your Bible every day. You will be amazed what truths God will reveal to you and how he will transform your heart, mind and spirit. “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). Find out how to accomplish this goal in our post 7 Tips to Kick Start Your Bible Study Plan in 2021.
2. Teach Someone About Jesus
We should share the Good News about Jesus Christ with as many people as we possibly can and yet many of us go about our day never speaking his name to anyone. Teaching someone about Jesus is easy using Mathetis. You can connect with family and friends and study God’s word together on your phone using the Mathetis app or on your computer. Choose one of our courses and begin studying today.
3. Start a Study Group With My Friends on Mathetis
Creating a study group on Mathetis is quick and easy. Watch our short video which walks you through this process. Invite friends to join your study by emailing them a link to your group. You can also share your group on Facebook or share your group code on the Mathetis app. Check out our FAQ page to find out more.
4. Learn to Serve Others More than Myself
It can be hard to put the needs of others before the needs of ourselves, but that is exactly what God did for us when he sent Jesus to die for us. As followers of Christ, we should want to be like him and serve the needs of people around us. Serving others is being the hands and feet of Jesus.
5. Give as I have been Blessed by God
God’s word tells us that he wants us to be people that give cheerfully. “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). Giving might be donating money, time or services to people in need. There are so many ways to give within your community and church. If you have been abundantly blessed this year and would like to give to the work of Mathetis, your money will be used to bring more people to know Christ.
These resolutions will change your life and transform the way your see our world in 2021. Put your trust in God as you enter this new year, and he will not disappoint. At Mathetis, this is our prayer for you and your family as you begin 2021: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26).
