How Can I Find Life Through Death?

  • Question 01
Jesus used parables to teach spiritual concepts to a physical audience. Do you have a favorite parable? What was the spiritual truth Jesus was trying to convey?
  • Question 02
In your own words, describe the parable in John 12:24. What spiritual truth do you believe Jesus is trying to teach?
  • Question 03
What does it mean for us to give up our lives? How is that supposed to look?
  • Question 04
What is required of us when we choose to become a Christian?
  • Question 05
How does this understanding get rid of our fear of death? What does death bring to the life of a Christian?
  • Question 06
How is choosing to go to Heaven a selfless act?
  • Exercise 01
John 12:25 states, “anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” In light of the parable in John 12:24, explain in your own words, what it means to love your life and what it means to hate your life. Is Jesus saying we cannot enjoy aspects of life? How do we balance these concepts?
  • Exercise 02
Just as a seed is different from the plant that it produces, so are our physical bodies once we are raised into our spiritual bodies. But what will it look like? The Corinthians asked a similar question in I Corinthians 15:35-37. Read Paul’s response in I Corinthians 15:42-57. What sticks out to you about the heavenly body we as Christians will receive in Christ?
