Did Jesus Really Rise From The Dead?

  • Question 01
What is it about the resurrection of Jesus that makes it challenging to believe?
  • Question 02

14 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.

17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. -1 Corinthians 15: 14,17 (ESV)

Why is Jesus’ resurrection considered to be a foundation to Christianity? What happens to Christianity if this resurrection did not happen? (See 1 Corinthians 15:14 & 17)
  • Question 03
According to the gospels, how did the followers of Jesus react when they saw him alive? How would you have reacted?
  • Question 04

3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. -1 Corinthians 15: 3-8 (ESV)

According to 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, over 500 people were witnesses of the resurrection. How likely do you think it is that all these witnesses would have created this story and be willing to die for it?
  • Question 05
Do you believe Jesus really rose from the dead? What evidence strengthens your faith in the resurrection?
  • Exercise 01
What would you say was the most important moment of Jesus’ life: his birth, teaching, death, resurrection or all of the above? Why? Read I Corinthians 15:3 and 17 and compare it with your answer.
  • Exercise 02
Prepare a defense (as in a court case) in favor for the resurrection of Jesus. What points would you use if in a court of law to persuade a jury? Then review 1 Corinthians 15:1-28, which contains Paul’s defense of the resurrection. Which of Paul’s points stuck out the most to you?
