The first step someone can take to start dying to self is repenting and giving up their lives to God, by doing this they are getting rid of the selfish, sinful life they may have lived and begin to live a life of holiness. The death of one’s earthly self is a necessary sacrifice in order to obtain the gift of the kingdom of God. In Galatians 2:20, the death of someone’s worldly self is described, when Christ died on the Cross for us so did our sinful ways. We must, as Christians, let go of temporary pleasures in order to achieve eternity. Also, instead of being a selfish body we become flesh that is filled with the Holy Spirit, so though we may be living on the world we are not living for it. Colossians 3:1-17 describes the on-going process of living as a child of God, we are to reject all the earthly temptations and sins that fill our world, such as anger, evil desire, wrath, fortification, etc. And in doing so we must accept many spiritual acts, like being at peace with our hearts, and doing everything in the name of our Lord. Though it is mentioned that the most important thing is to share love and hold it in our hearts, then act accordingly. In 2 Timothy 2:22, we are told to run from temptations and desires of youth, because those only lead to sin and death. But we are meant to seek righteousness, faith, love, and peace, all of which lead us closer to God and allow us to live for Him. The main purpose of all these scriptures is to tell us that the things of this world will try to tempt and trap us but the most pure and holy things, such as faith and love, should be at the center of our minds in order to prevent ourselves from falling into sinful ways. To pursue eternal life we must give up the comfort and pleasures that come from living a temporary life and begin to become like the seed, suffering and sharing ourselves in order to make the world a better place, so that we may live forever.

The first step someone can take to start dying to self is giving their lives to God. They have to put God first and get rid of their sinful ways. The of your early self is a sacrifice you have to make to obtain the gift of eternal life in heaven. In Galatians 2:20, the death of someone’s worldly self is described, when Jesus gave his life for us on the cross our sins died with it. We have to wash away the sins and allow God into our life to obtain eternal life in heaven with our creator. Colossians 3:1-17 describes the process , saying we have to get rid of temptation and sins that fill us in the world. When doing these things we must accept the rules God gives us like being peaceful in heart. In 2 Timothy 2:22 we are told to run from sin and temptations because they lead to a life in hell. That’s why we are to seek God and stay following him when we finally die from this earth and go to heaven to be with the creator of all of us. The main purpose of these verses were to tell us that we have to avoid temptation and avoid sin because those are the things stopping us from living in heaven and having eternal life with our Savior Jesus Christ. We must give up all worldly things in order to obtain eternal life because the world is filled with sin and temptation.

It says that the first thing we have to is give ourselves up to god. This gets rid of all the sins that we have done in our life. This also will make it easier to turn to Jesus and accept him as our savior. In Galatians 2:20 it says “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live in faith in the son of god, who loved me and gave himself for me.” This shows that even though He had been crucified, Christ still lived in him. This is exactly what they are talking about when they said we have to die in ourself. It is also saying that he put his faith in him just like Jesus did for us. Because Jesus trusted and loved humanity enough to die or us and he died in himself so that he would live forever.

The first step is to stop defining life as our heart beating and define it as the eternal life that God will give us. People value their lives and they should, but we need to prioritize our spiritual life over our secular life. We need to be living to serve God, dedicating our life to Him. In Galatians 2:20, it talks about how it is “no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me”. Paul wasn’t living with the goal of satisfying himself or preserving his physical life, he was living to bring others closer to God. He was putting God’s will above his wishes as we all should do. In Colossians 3:1-17, it talks about “seeking things above”. Paul tells us that we should be seeking out God in our everyday life. We should be praying, or singing hymns. We should be trying to honor Christ in all of our actions. Paul talks about avoiding temptations and sins like anger and blasphemy and instead trying to be kind, forgiving, and humble. These are also ways that we can honor God in our everyday life because we are acting as Christians should act and making God proud. In 2 Timothy 2:22, it talks about avoiding temptation and instead focusing on “pursuing faith, love, righteousness and peace”. To be good Christians and obtain eternal life, we need to try to act with those traits in mind. It will make us better people and it will make God proud of us.

what it means to die to self means that we give up our worldly ideas and dreams and live more spiritual we have to give our lives to God. we put God first and get rid of all of our control. we have to make this sacrifice in order to have eternal life and to live In heaven with God. giving up our lives is a big decision and a great sacrifice. but it is necessary to fully live for God and liv correctly by God. even when we do so we will still sin daily and we will still need to ask for forgiveness. but it brings us closer to God and heaven. 2 Timothy 2:22 says “Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”we have to give up human pleasures to be closer to God.
